please add the ability to create destructible objects using the physx and procedural mesh fragmentation. something like unreal's http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/PhysXDestructibleReference.html

I would love to see this feature implemented. Has there been any progress or new info in regards with Unity working on this?

I believe when a object has a Destructible Mesh, it needs the right requirements like mass and force so a another object with the requirements so the object that is destructible can have pieces of itself fall off when it is hit.

I believe that is a great idea. 10/10

Now that Unity is using PhysX 3.3, maybe this is closer to being a possibility.

Yes, Unity needs a fast, built-in destruction system. Unity team go!

Unity uses a modified version of PhysX 2.8.3, and you don't have direct access to it anyway. Apex requires at least 2.8.4, so unless you want to try and reimplement Unity's entire physics system it's not possible to integrate it through a plugin.

apex support can be added by using "Low-level Native Plugin Interface" ?

Though it's true destructible meshes is possible with a plugin, none out there offer a GPU solution. An ideal solution would be upgrading Unity to use the most recent version of PhysX with APEX integration. APEX would not only provide a robust destruction solution with good artist tools, but also fur/hair, clothes, fluids, and particles all on the GPU. It should also be noted that the Butterfly demo would not have been possible without APEX integration.

Hi guys, me (xCyborg), just gave 9 of my votes to this feature.
I urge every one to focus their vote laser beam to one cause at a time, if we want to influence Unity somehow.
    cheers.

How on earth are people considering this an essential default packaged feature? You can implement it easily with some coding know-how.
