Package Import Directory

When we import a package, it doesn't seem their is a way to import the package into a specific folder. I prefer to have structure that is.

Assets/Packages/'PackageName'/Files...

Their needs to be a selected a folder dialog to choose the correct format you wish.

When you import a package from the Asset Store, it can be a mess as sometimes they import it into the main Assets folder, so files are mixed with theirs and impossible to separate out.

Its nice if the Asset creators have a subfolder, such as 'Cartoon Soldier' has a folder which you can move into the Packages folder if you choose.

This INCLUDES offically unity Packages, some series, such as the SampleUI dumps files all over your asset folder, and makes it impossible to seperate out the specific ones for the packge, and makes it almost impossible to remove the package.

Secondary, tools such as import and export, should be notified if a folder changes so they can continue to work.

    Just downloaded Unity's [Post Processing Stack] and it decided to install itself into another asset's directory structure. It makes no sense.

    I like to be organized and keep my stuff separate from other people's stuff. I would like a dedicated project folder called "Asset Store" at the same level as Favorites, Assets and Packages, within the Project tab.

    This would be nice, but probably will never come.
    One reason is that many assets depend on a known folder structure. If you want to present a menu to the user to create a specific prefab from your package and add it to scene, you'll have to know the whole path from 'Assets', e.g.
    'Assets/MyInstallFolder/Prefabs/ThisOrThatPrefab.asset'.

    If they want to change that, they will have to implement a symbolic link system, e.g. '%MyInstallFolder%/Prefabs/ThisOrThatPrefab.asset'.

    Alternatively they could make a mandatory install location for specific assets. So if you upload an asset as 'Editor Extension', it would always automatically install under 'Plugins'.
    Would be really an improvement though.

    Please, please, please implement a way to import assets to a specified location - rather than polluting the root Assets folder.

    If I can (manually and painstakingly) relocate them after import, then surely this must be possible to do seamlessly and under-the-hood as part of the import process itself?

    Even big companies do it wrong. I just imported Google Firebase Cloud Messaging... 5 root folders in the package... I hat that!
    So, I vote.

    Package managers normally add packages in their own folder.

    i.e. node writes to "/node_modules".

    Can we get packages put in separate folder by default?
    "Packages" || "import_packages" || "someSubFolder"
