This idea may save a BOAT LOAD!!! Particularly on processing power for EVERYONE. When a game renders the image it actually renders the polys (in it's raw state) first then the texture mapping on top of it. It's like covering a Christmas present with wrapping and then rewrapping the present with another wrapping. You have one wrapping over another. Get it?
First the raw polys are rendered, then the texture mapping is rendered over the raw polys. Your really rendering twice over. What you really want is the texture mapping to render not the raw polys with it, but the game is rendering both. If you only render the texture mapping and not the raw polys it will save a lot of performance power.
All games use polys so ever game can benefit from it.
