Make 2D work with NavMesh and Terrain

NavMesh and the terrain system are currently designed to work on the XZ axes, while the 2D system can only work on the XY axes.

I'd like to request that there be an option to switch the 2D mode to word on the XZ axes in order to increase compatibility with these (and other) features which are often necessary for a top-down 2D game world.

    Its almost Q2 of 2017 and i still cant find anything about a native navigation system for 2D. If you support 2D still, please at least adress this.

    I can't believe this isn't even on the roadmap after 3 years, Unity team's sprints must be really long !!!

    How is it much more difficult than 3d nav ? Why we can't just use navNesh on a XY plane ?

    3 years and still no answer on getting this fixed. Would love for an official statement or for it to show up somewhere in the roadmap. I have high hopes though since particles were finally fixed for 2D. Unity gods please fix this. It will make my life so much easier and there are no great pathfinding solutions on the marketplace atm. Without this feature it really limits people's ability to create complex 2D games in the community.

    Any official statement from Unity on the current status of this suggestion's consideration? I can't tell you how many 2D devs I know that need this feature stronger than any of the new 2D features in the works.
