Unity's Assets have a few special folders, like Resources and Plugins. I'd like to add another folder to emphasize non-managed files. I.e. a place where I can drop my pre-production media files, documents, even my Visual Studio Solution for producing DLL's for the assets.
I want to be able to check in my VS solution into the project, but I can't have that in the assets folder, or it conflicts with the DLLs. Also, for asset store packages, if source code for DLL's comes with , it is in a zip or a separate download.
I'd really like to merge those two worlds, and just having a folder that is ignored for code/media conversion/builds, but can still be included in Collaborator and Packaged Assets.
Potential names include "Exclude", "Ignore", "Separate", "Unused", "Indirect".
