Unity should have it's own custom IDE for coding

Scripting Aug 16, 2012 Meltdown 9 comments

Here is the current state of scripting tools for Unity..

- Visual Studio Pro is expensive and not available on Mac
- MonoDevelop has numerous complaints from the community
- C# and UnityScript don't play nicely with each other, and have limited intellisense recognition
- UnityScript in general, has poor intellisense
- Limited runtime/debugging support on most editors

All of these issues would be solved if Unity had it's very own custom built scripting IDE with full intelisense, run time debugging, and seamless interoperability between all of Unity's languages.

An IDE that everyone is familiar with, that can somehow improve interoperability and provide intellisensed code access between all of Unity's scripting languages will go a long way in making many developers lives easier.
